Ocean Waves Make for Beautiful Days! Cornell Allen Class of 2024 Ceramics 1 This was my first time ever working with clay, and I am growing as an artist everyday. For my fall 2021 collection, I wanted to create dinnerware pieces because my mom and I love to cook together. I made the color of my dishes a very unique tie-dye blue because she loves the ocean! The technique of the blue finish on my dishes is very hard to duplicate since I used several blues marbled together. Although I spent most of the semester handbuilding, which is the technique I used to make my slabs. I also enjoyed the challenge of learning to throw, which is how I created my bowls. My glazing technique was to pour different blues in the middle of each dish and then mix it around to create a blend of various shades of blue. I hope the viewer takes away that I am the best ceramics student in the world. But, most importantly, I want my viewers to see my pieces and feel a sense of relaxation and blue ocean waves.
